In accordance with naval requirements, the officers who embarked on the Baudin expedition maintained a journal of their voyage. A number of the scientists also kept a record of their activities and of the impressions they formed of places visited. Not all of these journals have survived, but the large number of those that are still to be found in libraries and other archival collections are presented here, in both the original French and in English translation.
